Civet Cat Chypre is a classic chypre perfume built around real civet paste, orris butter, and oakmoss absolute. It opens with luminous bergamot, lemon, and lavender, revealing a heart of rose otto, rose absolute, and jasmine absolute, before settling into a deep, powdery base of Indian sandalwood, labdanum, tonka bean, and real civet.
Handcrafted in Canada by perfumer Matthew Meleg, this perfume is made in small batches using a high concentration of natural materials, including genuine Ethiopian civet paste and GC-MS-verified orris butter and rose absolute. Each bottle is blended, aged, and finished with the care of an artisan perfume house.

I managed my families "Meleg's Orchard," in a small south Ontario town until I was 25. The orchard started with Sam Meleg, a Slovak from the Provence of Vojvodina, former Kingdom of Serbia of the Austro Hungarian Empire. My work ethic, self deprecating humour and stubborn nature is reflective of my Slovak, peasant roots.
Here my cousins are laying crops into the "apple bin." My wooden perfume box is meant to represent apple bins. Be they rose, vetiver or jasmine farmers. Be they from India, Mexico, Canada or Iran - Meleg Perfumes celebrates farmers and artisans of all nations.
