Davana Nocturne Gothica is a dark floral perfume built around an unusual interpretation of rose: not fresh, pink, or dewy, but overripe and autumnal. A rose at the very end of its bloom — heavy with scent, its petals darkening and beginning to fall.
Davana surrounds the rose with a strange, wine-like fruitiness, suggesting ripe plum, dried fruit, and liqueur. Jasmine deepens its floral richness, while patchouli, woods, resins, and soft animalic warmth create the impression of damp autumn leaves, dark earth, and old wood beneath the flowers.
The result is voluptuous and gothic: a perfume about beauty at the moment just before decay, when a flower's scent can become richer, darker, and more intoxicating than when it first opened.
Handcrafted in Canada by perfumer Matthew Meleg, Davana Nocturne Gothica is made in small batches as an extrait de parfum. Each bottle is blended, aged, and finished by hand with the care of an artisan perfume house.

I managed my families "Meleg's Orchard," in a small south Ontario town until I was 25. The orchard started with Sam Meleg, a Slovak from the Provence of Vojvodina, former Kingdom of Serbia of the Austro Hungarian Empire. My work ethic, self deprecating humour and stubborn nature is reflective of my Slovak, peasant roots.
Here my cousins are laying crops into the "apple bin." My wooden perfume box is meant to represent apple bins. Be they rose, vetiver or jasmine farmers. Be they from India, Mexico, Canada or Iran - Meleg Perfumes celebrates farmers and artisans of all nations.
